The river, seen from the ground
Every record opens
another question.
A bird recorded on a walk. A water assessment. A structure across a stream. Bring the sources into view, without losing what each one actually tells us.
Follow the source
What has been recorded?
Look for a plant, an animal or a river section. Read the original record, see when it was made, and explore what else is known nearby.
Finding the source records…
An honest starting point
Know the limits. Follow the evidence.
The Nore collection
25 Nore-named EPA river sections, two published water-status assessment periods and IFI structures assigned to their sub-basins. This is not a complete inventory of the catchment or all its tributaries.
Species recorded nearby
A bounded sample of eligible GBIF records within a 2 km corridor, allowing for their stated location uncertainty. Sensitive, generalised and unsupported-licence records are excluded. Historical observations are not a current survey.
Relationships, not conclusions
Comparisons use the official river identifier. They can suggest a useful question; they cannot establish cause, ecological damage, legal conflict or the absence of a species. Every result keeps its original source.
